:: Music to inspire!

Postby Pew-Pew » 07 Sep 2010, 01:26

Personally I find music to one of the most inspiring things life has to offer and I love discovering new artists/genres - especially when it's something I probably wouldn't have found on my own :D

Who are some of your favourite artists? Let us know who/what you're listening to and why!
(Note: Youtube tags currently not working, will update with embedded videos when this is fixed!)

Yea, there's a lot of Celldweller, but trust me.. it's so worth it :23:

Listening classic mostly, but I also like video games and movie themes with a lot of violin and voices. I don't know a lot about modern music...

I suggest Audio Machine for the mood. They create a lot of trailer music among which Guardians at the gate from the Avatr trailer.
I suggest Steve Jablonsky, Hans Zimmer, Paul Houseman, Nobuo Uematsu, etc.

"...When everything's going wrong, everything around you
seems like a movie you can't relate to, you feel tired of everything and
you 're at the bottom of the shit and everyone keeps pushing you, there
comes a moment of clarity in your mind that you pick up the guitar and write
a song about it. Then it feels a bit better. Then you put out the record and people
get the songs and then comes a time you're playing live and as you scream
the words of that song there is a boy or a girl right in front of you that
screams the same words as if it was his song. And then you realise
you're not alone... Nothing can ever beat that feeling...
We wish we could play everyday..."

I handpicked these from my last.fm's top500 tracks list, i hope that you like 'em as much as i do :)

Modus Operandi - Sonata Rabidus
;Instrumental;

Lenka - Like a song
I can't forget you when you're gone
You're like a song that goes around in my head

Metric - The Twist
He holds a certain gesture when we're lovin' to ask each other
"Do you want it?" "Do you want me?"
I want it. It is you. You are where I want to be.

Leonard Cohen - The Future
Give me crack and anal sex
Take the only tree that's left
stuff it up the hole
in your culture
Give me back the Berlin wall
give me Stalin and St Paul
I've seen the future, brother:
it is murder.

Leonard Cohen - Take This Waltz
and a great cover
There's a concert hall in Vienna
Where your mouth had a thousand reviews
There's a bar where the boys have stopped talking
They've been sentenced to death by the blues

Taco - Puttin' on the Ritz
Fred Astaire - Puttin' On the Ritz
If you're blue and you don't know
where to go to why don't you go
where fashion sits
Puttin' on the Ritz

Moloney, O'Connell & Keane - Kilkelly
Kilkelly, Ireland, 1860, my dear and loving son John
Your good friend the schoolmaster Pat McNamara's so good
As to write these words down.
Your brothers have all gone to find work in England,
The house is so empty and sad
The crop of potatoes is sorely infected,
A third to a half of them bad.

The Good, The Bad & The Queen - History Song
Sundays lost
In melancholy

The Good The Bad And The Queen - Kingdom Of Doom
When the sunset wheel begins
Turning into the night
I see everything in black and white

Frank Zappa - Bobby Brown
Oh God I am the american dream
But now I smell like vaseline
An Im a miserable sonofabitch
Am I a boy or a lady...i don't know which

Vashti Bunyan - Train Song
What will I do if there’s someone with you
Maybe someone you’ve always known
How do I know I can come and give to you
Love with no warning and find you alone

Emiliana Torrini - Jungle Drum
Hey, I'm in love,
My fingers keep on clicking to the beating of my heart.
Hey, I can't stop my feet,
Ebony and ivory and dancing in the street.
Hey, it's because of you,
The world is in a crazy, hazy hue.

Hollerado - AMERICANARAMA
Doot doot doo doot do doo Doot doot doot doot do doo

Christopher Cross - Arthur's Theme
Wake up and it's still with you
Even though you left her way across town
Wondering to yourself, "Hey, what've I found?"

Mariska - Poika nimeltä päivi(original song by Leevi and the Leavings)
