Lyraina's sketchbook

Postby Lyraina » 24 Apr 2012, 20:12

Well then, let's give this a try!

I'm Lyraina, currently studying biology, and using every spare minute to work on my art. Every critique is very welcome!

I'll start with some more or less recent still life studies.
Thank you for looking!

Hello Lyraina !
It is good to see you posting here!
:14:

Let me provide you with some helpful info
If you want o post pictures you first have to upload them in your personal album or submit them to one of the public albums
You can create a personal album in your user control panel in the gallery tab: ucp.php
Here is a link to the gallery where you will find the public albums: gallery/index.php

After uploading the images you can post them using the Image BBCodes that are displayed under the Images in your gallery pages. Posting the first code with [IMG] tags will show the image in big and the second code will show a thumbnail.

The Forum will automatically assign the first attached image or the first image posted with [IMG] tags as your topic thumbnail.
If you get lost or need help understanding the features please visit here: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=45

Have fun posting!

Hey welcome to the kitchen! Those studies look really great! You seem to have a really good handle on form and value. Try looking at your edges a little bit and see where the form could be helped by making them softer, most of them are a uniform hardness.

Great stuff keep 'em coming! :D

Welcome to the Kitchen Lyraina.
As Nick said, your studies are good in terms of forms and values, but the shading could be what you want to work on a bit. I would also add that your surfaces all have the same texture, so you should try different strokes on some areas to give it more variations in texture/material.
Keep it up
