::Topics and suggestions

Postby Vatsel » 12 Sep 2010, 17:29

If you have a cool topic in mind, post it here, so other people can choose to draw it!
Environments, Characters, action scenes, everything goes.

Hopefully this will allow some people to choose a topic with a difficulty level suitable to them and also relieve some pressure off the mods.

You can also post suggestions and general feedback about the art battle section here :)

For a better arena!

CREATURE DESIGN

Robotic Zombie Hound- A horrific creature created by a race of cyborg-zombies used to track and hunt down the living, either as a source of food or to be converted. Design a creature that has both rotting animal flesh and mechanical parts, a breed ideal for hunting/tracking is highly recommended. The ratio of organic and mechanical parts is up to you.

Animal Sorcerer- Choose any animal that you give humanoid features to that has the ability to cast powerful spells, be it elemental like earth/fire/wind/water or dark/light magic. The type of animal is up to you, and while a costume/accesories is optional, it must look like it's a wizard.

That's all I got for now, I shall post more when my brain isn't half asleep :)

CREATURE DESIGN

Atlantis Gate Guardian- The gates of the lost underwater city of Atlantis are protected by an ancient and fearsome beast (or beasts). The creature must look like it's capable of guarding such a large and prosperous city, and it can be just a single creature or a pack. It's all up to you.

CHARACTER CREATION

Alien Survivor Man/Woman- A space explorer crash lands on a fertile but hostile alien rainforest planet. This person has learned how to survive under the harshest conditions over a long and eventful decade. They have become as ferocious as the environment around them.

???

Evil Fairy Tale (perhaps can be done book cover style or just a painting depicting an important event of the story)- Basically you re-imagine a children's classic fairy tale or story, such as Little Red Riding Hood, Goldy Locks and the 3 Bears, Ali Baba and the 40 thieves, Hansel and Gretel, Cinderella, Peter Pan just to name a few...or alot actually. Re-imagine the story with a dark twist, and turn it into a horror type story.

May I add my suggestions?

Gate keeper
Creatures/characters: golem, warden, guard, hermit, skeleton, figure in a door, plant, robot
Locations: sanctuary, prison, dungeon, fortress, hall
Details: you can just paint the gate keeper posing in front of his gate or fighting with intruders. But the gate keeper may be a creature like the Sphinx and his riddle, who would grant free access if your answer correctly. He may be gigantic, he may be tiny, he may be numerous, he may feed on intruders as well.

Mechanic
Creatures/Characters: crazy steampunk guy, robot, tentacle alien, military mechanic
Locations: warehouse, garage, workshop
Details: in team or alone, he will probably look dirty if he is not alien. In a general way, the place where he works is a mess, with his tools scatters everywhere, junks littering the ground. He may be a she, and she could be ugly or gorgeous. A wrench is a good accessory, and leather will probably will be his favorite fabric. If alien, he may be hovering. It may be just a robotic facility.

Virtual entity
Creature/Characters: AI, hologram
Locations: virtual world, matrix, terminal control, holographic platform, monitor
Details: it has no gender, but it can take human form to appear to us. Malevolent or benevolent, it will look cold. Digits run across it and it can access any system.

Do you think we can organize Team Battles? I think it could be a great thing to have several groups (not too many) working on one topic. For instance, it could be one-entry/one-participant or one-pic/one-team. Whatever the configuration is, all the members of the same team could help each other on their personal or common painting. This is basically a special form of Character of the Week activity on Concept Art, but I like the idea and it would be great to use it here.

Here's one idea:
- super heroes in household chores such as cooking, washing, or sweeping the house.

Well... I was not asking for a topic in the first place, just wanted to know if it could be possible, but that's a pretty cool idea neo. Although I'm not really in the comics, I totally imagine the Avengers, the Justice League or the Xmen doing household chores

If you see any good done by me, then it originated in my predecessors or colleagues.
Thank them, not me.

If you notice a shortcoming or a weakness,
then I am the origin of that, and I ask you to forgive me.

No man, I wasnt directing this idea to you specifically :)
It's a suggestion for a new arena topic, anyone could use it, as the author of the thread asked us ;)

R'lyeh
A city of blackest night, the lost city of R'lyeh lies somewhere beneath the waves. It is a cursed place and home of the tomb that holds the sleeping Cthulhu. A city of dark monoliths and alien architecture, those who have seen R'lyeh have seen it only in dreams. Most stories of the city contain little in the way of detail, so no one knows where it is, how big it is, or what it contains. The magic that guards R'lyeh was set in place by gods, so not only is it masked against detection, it is thoroughly and mystically guarded against intrusion. Those who would brave these distant shores face a perilous journey indeed.

"No women, no kids."
The Si'cario (contract killer) has been a tool of influential Sicilian dons for centuries dating back into history. Their craft has been finely tuned over many generations of rich tradition passed down from their ancestors. Although the tools for the job have changed over the decades, many Si'cario inherit pieces of equipment passed down from their fathers whom in turn inherited them from their fathers as symbols of carrying on the tradition (leather utility belts, black powder flintlock pistols, stilettos, etc.). The Si'cario are a symbol of balance in the world of organized crime. Should a member from within the family or from a rival family get out of line, a Si'cario would be called to 'set things straight'. It is for this reason that the Si'cario have come to be honored for their watchful eye over the course of history.
