hmm. I think my first tool was pencils. After that, nankin, pastel, watercolors, and now, the tablet :)

Markers! I loved drawing with markers when I was a kid. I never really liked the look colour pencils achieved.
Later I started drawing with pencil. Didn't care what paper or pencil I was using as long as I could draw. Don't really care now either. :D
I still use markers from time to time now too, but only a simple black one.
I've always liked watercolours and acrylics as a medium but I haven't had time to properly do art with them.
When I got into digital stuff it kind of stuck and I haven't worked with much else except sketching with a pencil for the last few years.

when I seriously started getting better when I was 17 it was just a sketchbook and a pencil. I loved harder ones cause they didn't smear so easily :3

when I was a kid there were only colour-pencils and wax-markers. =P

Hmm.. in the begining I was more drawn to a digital art process, even though I didn't have the equipment for it... so I used a mouse. A roller ball mouse. Fun times :D

Does anyone remember those watercoloring books? They were like your typical coloring books, except they had dried watercolor pigments included with the illustrations--and you just had to take a wet paintbrush to spread the color?
Yeah.
I started with those. When I was like...four. I was the worst colorist ever! My friends would always keep the colors neatly inside the lines, while mine were always an absolute mess.
Awesome.

Why should I blame her that she filled my days
With misery or that she would of late
Have taught to ignorant men most violent ways
Or hurled little streets upon the great.
Had they but courage equal to desire?

Crayola crayons/magic markers and dot matrix type copy paper. Then I got a #2 pencil and a felt tipped pen... then watercolors... etc. :)

I used to scribble or write about stuff that was pressing on my mind.
So I ended up starting to write horror storys with the age of 8 and scribble monsters and such.
Yeah I know.. weird but that was what haunted me often enough. With art and storys I dealed with it. :D
So main art-tool was pencil/pen. Also paper to build little structures, like golems and such. :D

but when I entered the 5th grade.. I stopped with almost all of that. Started to play games and such. :D
Now I'm mostly practicing with my digital tablet or pencil and trying to avoid pen.. because it never looks good for me. :D
