Ballpoint pen, I drew more with the ball point pen in my life than with a pencil.

I don't remember what I used but mom told me it was pastels...and I'd color the walls with them.
but usualy I'd just use pencils and watercolor.

Pencil + pen + Sheet of paper A4/A5. Still powerful tools for designing (drawing and sketching up ideas) logos, sites and even arts.
Of course many artists/designers use tablets nowadays, because of the simplicity and for sake of time. (You don't need to regularly change papers or pencil/pen, just the battery and pen's nib < - cool!)
Everything goes right into the Photoshop/Illustrator (this is the part where I love my tablet), instead of scanning the sketches (which is time consuming) and export to favorite GFX software.

Gotta love my Trust. :P

pencil and paper :T

@blasian: daw <3

i didn't have much to work with as a kid other than pencil and paper. and as for color i used color pencils mostly. i just liked those better than crayons or markers for some reason. and i rarely used paint outside of school projects.

Believe it or not, the point to art, any art--music, illustration, literature, sculpture, movies--is to convey an emotion, thought, idea, or all of the above. So the message of any piece of art is its foundation not just some "mere detail".
