Ok this was fun. This time around I did lines right on the printmaking paper, then did some marker on top to pop those lines (and make them permanent). It seems like a good efficient way to get things done, but I don't know if i'm totally sold on the style of the result. Kind of cartoony. Maybe i'll experiment a little and see if i can come up with a different technique. But we'll see about that. I'll doubt i'll come up with a new and better way of doing things before the end of this battle.

Anyway, with the help of V2, I've made Drew a purple gorilla.

Handsome? yes. He's a samurai who travels between dimensions using that elevator. He was also supposed to be a cyborg, but I forgot all about that when i hurriedly started this drawing this morning. Hopefully I'll develop this simian's character a little more before the end, and refine my ability to draw him up all nice. :28:

Ok that's all. Looking forward to tomorrow. Gotta figure out how to balance scene's 2 and 3 since I didn't include the elevator in this scene. :16:

). I'll try to make some time between the "take my grandma to the doctor" and "english classes" to draw the sketch in a few mins and then color it with the rest of the hour tonight! :b3:

AIex: Very dramatic! I really like how Drew is just ahead of the shadows. Very epic. Watch the character's pose though. That leading leg is very stiff. Its' always better to put the extra time into getting the pose and proportions right, the big picture, and then be a little lax on details later.

Here we go! This time I tried to put the emphasis onto the elevator rather than Drew. I worked really directly without making changes so the composition is a little weird and all of the details are pretty sloppy. I think they add up pretty well though. I threw color on very simply and quickly at the last second as I was pushing the time limit a little with this one. But I had the last one open at the same time and was sampling colors from it.

so hopefully its got a unified color scheme between the two.

I'm happy though! It turned out pretty nice in my opinion and I'm looking forward to tomorrow's struggle!

What's really turning out great about this technique is that with the marker lines, I don't necessarily have to worry about rendering everything to make it readable. Putting just a little tone on it is more than enough to get the forms to pop. If were doing it my usual way it would have taken about three times as long. Of course this ends up not being quite as rendered but it works.

Lets hope the rest go as smoothly as this one!
