FLATLANDS

Image

FLATLANDS

Land of endless grass across a level terrain. Sometimes referred to as "the sea of weeds" by foreigners, this is a very featurless area with few hills or trees; although there are several smaller bodies of water and a large river that runs through the area. Elemental Wind Spirits roam these plains freely and embody the character of the wind itself. This land is where the wind runs free.

These are the black dots on the map. Any time you go to a black dot, use any one of these as your image topic -
. . . *A herd of beasts graze lazily across the plain. Wind Warriors stalk them from a distance
. . . *A young beast is slain by a Warrior's spear
. . . *A super cell thunder storm sends predators and prey running for cover
. . . *A rogue Wind Eater ambushes!
. . . *The Wind Elemental unleashes its fury
. . . *The grass sways in the wind like a rolling sea as natives admire the profound stars
. . . *A wandering Wind Speaker among the tall grass gives a signal
. . . *Child Wind Warrior rides the Wind Elemental
. . . *Fate is drawn in the clouds
. . . *Attacked by ferocious creature(s)!

Farwinds
The principle city fo the wind warriors, a tribal and primitive people that inhabit the Flatlands. While the largest tribe, the wind warriors are not the only tribe. These people build simple one story structures from animal hides. Dug -out pits and dirt walls are not uncommon in these tent-like buildings. The people wear animal hides and furs and mark their bodies with ritual paint and scars. This is the starting point for the Flatlands; denoted with a star.
You must do these images in order. Each one is one level for your character.
. . . *Farwinds is a bussling community of vibrant, albeit practically nude people. Depict and area of the village in the late afternoon light
. . . . . . *At night the people perform rituals around a bon fire
. . . . . . . . . *It's a cold, early morning and the furs are on as they prepare for the hunt. A particularly savage warrior challenges you to a fight in a fit of fury

Rocklands
Somewhat hilly area on the border of the Barrow Uplands with a ponderous amount of exposed glacial rocks. There are many crevices and hiding places for the dangerous and ill-tempered Slackjawed Rammers that roam the area. It is not uncommon to find elemental Rock and Earth spirits in this area also.
White, open dot - do any one of these topics -
. . . *A Slackjaw Rammer leaps from its rock crevice in attack!
. . . *Rock and Earth elementals engage in epic battle!
. . . *Huge bird-like creatures call a large outcropping of rocks their home.

Still Water
Shrouded in perpetual mist, Still Water is a small lake with a central island. The water is eerily still at all times. On the island lives an ancient witch who many go to for soothsaying. Her hutch is ragged and decrepit with many tokens and trinkets made from animal parts and strange plants.
White, open dot - do any one of these topics -
. . . *The witch in her hutch
. . . *A deadly enemy emerges from the waters!
. . . *The witch puts on a frightful display of conjuring.

Siren's Well
Within the Whispering River lies a deep cavern known as Siren's well. While cause of such a deep pit is mysterious, it is evident that wonderous creatures live in them, as their harrowing song can be heard as they surface in the moonlight.
White, open dot - do any one of these topics -
. . . *Some only surface, others take to shore.
. . . *A huge beast emerges from the depths in a startling challenge!
. . . *The water over the well is very clear, although its depths become dark quickly

Valley of Song
This place is full of light and fruit and a calming peace. In the wind can be heard a joyous melody as if remembered from a life passed. But a strange sense of foreboding and fear lurks behind every step. It seems that the wind can become foul when one is not mindful of it; and return to the peaceful calm as a traveler's attention is turned. This area is home to many light and dark elementals.
White, open dot - do any one of these topics -
. . . *Lying in the grass under the warm sun, the scene is perfect
. . . *Light elementals materialize from tiny points of floating light, into awesome creatures of wonder
. . . *The shadows themselves transfrom into wretched beasts!

The Shrouded Hills: E3, requires lvl. 60, E1, E2 and E7, pvp 5 Reward: Redesign your character to make it appear stronger
A bowl of hills, lined with thick trees lies to the north. A darkness surrounds the area and no braves dare to break the tree line into the valley beyond. There are legends of demons and slumbering evil here; legends of terror and death.
White bullseye - You must do these images in order. Each one is one level for your character.
. . . *As you pass though the trees you see a large vista across a deep and round valley. Could this have been a meteor impact? Rocky outcroppings fill the center of the crater
. . . . . . * As you make your way down the inside hill, chittering creatures spring upon you!
. . . . . . . . . *The center of the crater is the opening to a huge cave. Immediately inside is a huge dragon!
. . . . . . . . . . . . *You stand over the slain dragon, feeling very badass.

Wind Top: E1 Reward: clothing/armor upgrade of your liking.
The plateau in the east is the settlement of Wind Speakers. They are a peaceful people who can hear the happenings of the world in gusts and breezes of wind that sweep these lofty tablelands. They speak with the wind and their messages travel unseen leagues. They have much to teach to those who know how to listen.
White bullseye - You must do these images in order. Each one is one level for your character.
. . . *Wind Top sits on the edge of a sheer cliff, that is the edge of a vast plataeu. This cliff towers up 150ft. Long rope ladders and platforms attached to pullies extend down the face of the cliff. Provide a view including this cliff.
. . . . . . *The Wind Top village is a collection of multi-storied buildings carefully built using tree trunks importred from surrounding regions. One enormous tower rises from the edge of the village near the cliff's edge and gently sways in the wind. Robed villagers gather in the square as something is happening there.
. . . . . . . . . *A band of Wind Eaters have assaulted the town! They attack ruthlessly and target you!
. . . . . . . . . . . . *The eldest Wind Speaker beckons you closer to share his secrets with you.

Karan's Wall: E2 Reward: Weapon upgrade of your liking.
On the southern border lies a brutal tribe known as the Wind Eaters. They are a dark people with foul habits and fouler intentions. Their leader, Karan, is a renowned warrior and an infamous tyrant known principally for his barbaric cruelty. He holds the gate through the mountain to the mirthless south hostage and none can shake his band of savage warriors. Eaters they are. Eaters of the wind's power and fury. Eaters of their enemies flesh as well.
White bullseye - You must do these images in order. Each one is one level for your character.
. . . *The village is placed right up against a rock wall on the side of the mountain. Buildings are constructed with the bones of gigantic creatures. Smoke billows from smoldering pits and feral dogs fight over scraps.
. . . . . . *The vile Wind Eaters are everywhere and quickly surround you! Smite them!
. . . . . . . . . *Even after many warriors have fallen, they seem to gleefully allow you to pass. As you move through a tight rock passage, a gate shuts behind you. You are trapped in an arena like room with a huge beast with a huge bloodlust. You must kill or be killed.
. . . . . . . . . . . . *Only Karan himself stands between you and your passage now. He is a huge man covered in scars paint and weapons. Disgusting liquid drips from his mouth. Defeat him if you can.

BARROW UPLANDS

A dark region of steep hills and rocky precipices saturated with the dead. This land is held by the dark undead warriors of days passed. Their graven faces and stricken bodies wander the lands and gaurd this graveyard nation with unchecked fervor. The trees bend and the grass wilts, but ever do the dead lie in wait for their calling. Monoliths and headstones; cairns and mausolea scatter these lands. Denoting mass graves and decorated Generals. As the pale moon illuminates their agony, they seek to add to their ranks any who enters their realm.
These are the black dots on the map. Any time you go to a black dot, use any one of these as your image topic -
. . . *A swarm of dead men peer down at you from a rocky hill topped with disparing trees
. . . *A trifecta of skeleton warriors surround you, daring you to make the first move
. . . *The moon overwhelms the sky as the putrid dead rise to greet you
. . . *The skeleton of monstrous size lumbers into view
. . . *You dark path weaves around large outcropped bedrock and vanishes into darkness. Evil lurks in every shadow
. . . *A huge pile of corpses lay in front of you; bodies haphazardly shrewn upon one another. Every eye in the mound is staring straight at you.
. . . *A skeletal dog handler unleashes his skeletal kanines upon you!
. . . *A highly decorated and armored officer makes a move on you for your life!
. . . *A magical necromancer prepares to use a spell
. . . *skeletal archers have you in their sights!

City of Cairns
Built entirely from loose rock, these formations of elaborate cairns form a large city of undead. These are intelligent dead of the land; the only dead who have any degree of peace among the shambling corpses of the Barrow Uplands. Reserved and isolated, shunning the world, they do not take well to outsiders. Most outsiders don't take well to them either. This is the starting point for the Barrow Uplands; denoted with a star.
You must do these images in order. Each one is one level for your character.
. . . *Several of the undead inspect you warily.
. . . . . . *In the bottom of a large valley sits a massive structure built from loose rocks and boulders. It has a very interesting design.
. . . . . . . . . *Sitting his his stone palace is king of the dead.

Fell Wood
A dark forest full of undead creatures. Around every tree and behind all bramble waits and unseen abominations. The sorrowful moonlight licks the tree tops, but barely penetrates to the undergrowth below.
White, open dot - do any one of these topics -
. . . *In the dark forest, your progress is observed by hidden demons and monsters
. . . *A small clearing reveals a single monument, gaurded by a large and mean looking armored villian. It attacks!
. . . *Apparitions. In the darkness of the wood ghastly figures can be seen glowing just out of reach.

Graven Marsh
These swamps are home to enormous undead crocodiles. Like a fallen tree they seem, until one comes close enough to smell its putrid existence. By then it is too late. While only a small swath of land is occupied by these grim marshes, the dangers and poisons are so great they seem to go on forever.
White, open dot - do any one of these topics -
. . . *The largest crocodilian you have ever seen lunges with a splash at you!
. . . *A swarm of tentacles emerge from the stagnant waters, cut your way through!
. . . *Boulders and fallen trees take on the appearance of a mighty skull as you travel through the swamp

Duskhyl
A dusty satellite colony from the city of cairns, this silent town is little more than a collection of delapidated buildings and shacks. Although this community is an outgrowth of the sad but thoughtful people of the Cairns, this place was lost to humanity long ago and the dead no longer speak. It seems a slick evil has penetrated most of the town, infecting the area and inhabitants with a black, rotten, mutation apparent in everything.

. . . *Everything around you pulses and throbs with dark growths

White bullseye - You must do these images in order. Each one is one level for your character.
. . . *The opening of the burial site is built into a massive gate with many disturbing sculptures
. . . . . . *A dark corridor lies before you. Decrepit hands emerging from the walls waiting to trap you in their clutches
. . . . . . . . . *a large room houses a demonic beast with many spikes
. . . . . . . . . . . . *The holy vault is a room of reverence, the pit in the center leads to some kind of fresh hell. Groans and snarls can be heard below as a dim glow flickers up. A swirl of tortured souls fills the room; flying and spiraling - down.

The maps of the other areas aren't showing.

Maybe someone who has a big understanding of flash could make an interactive map which shows all the content when you hover over?

No idea what to do. Where do we "start" at? Unless I missed a topic somewhere.

Also, It'd be neat to have a "character creation"... thing... before we embark on w/e it is we do (in other words, Draw your character).

The first post in the the other paint hammer thread explains how to play. Basically you make a picture of your character, then choose one of the three stars on the map to start at. From there you follow the topics listed in this thread. Put the info about your character into your signature and update your stats and location there to keep track of everything. This is just getting started now and if there's enough interest in it, we could possibly grow it into something more. :)

Yes. :) But you can't gain extra levels for doing extra panels... yet. So whatever sequence you make, be it three panels or a whole page would be just one level. for now. ;)

I'm hesitant to add voting to the fray for now, which we could use to let the community give you more levels per piece. But its superfluous anyway because the level requirements for later events are kinda set arbitrarily right now. AND a player could make really simple speed paintings to rocket through the game and gain levels quickly.
